About us

The "JAMAICA 2000" team of volunteers work with Learning Links International who have a team of well qualified and experienced educational advisors and creative artistes who can offer a range of support activities for schools and colleges.

Meet some of the team:

Liz Millman, set up and manages Jamaica 2000, the educational charity which has strong links with the Jamaican Ministry of Education and is also the founding Director of Learning Links International. Liz is a trained Primary School teacher who uniquely holds a Hons. Degree in aspects of Jamaican Education and holds the Association of Jamaican Nationals - Special Recognition Award.

Eileen McKen is now the Support Manager for Widening Horizons and has an impressive CV as a Primary Head Teacher and Team Member at the Standards Unit.

Spicy Fingers PHD, is a Jamaican poet who works in schools in Jamaica and UK – he is a storyteller, motivator and drummer, and he was awarded his PHD by proving to be a brilliant Pot Hole Dodger last time he was driving in Jamaica with the Birmingham Schools delegation visit check out www.spicyfingerspoet.com

Yasus Afari is one of Jamaica’s best loved, most innovative and active poets and author.  Yasus worked with Liz Millman for the past 5 years, touring UK and other parts of the world, working with schools, universities, prisons and the Jamaican Diaspora community sharing his special message.  Yasus Afari inspired the Jamaican Ministry of Education to develop the vibrant and successful “Culture Agent” programme for schools across Jamaica. He travels the world as a successful performance poet and reggae artiste, as well as lecturing and teaching. See www.yasusafari.biz
